Le Roy Funeral Service was established in 1950 by Mr Stanley Le Roy Priaulx. The business operated from Buller Road, Cowick Street, and Queens Road Exeter. Martin Wreford was appointed manager in 1968 and subsequently purchased the business in 1974. His eldest son Andrew joined the company in 1980, followed by Martin's wife Dianne and youngest son Nicholas in 1984.
The growth of the company led to a move to new premises. 10 Alphington Road, St Thomas Exeter was purchased in 1986 providing room for expansion and offering good modern facilities for visiting clients and staff. Car parking is also available on site. (10 Alphington Road was formally used as a Fire Station during the last war, Kings Potatoes, and Badcock Engineering)
As the Wreford family and many of the staff live in Crediton, we decided to look for suitable premises there. We purchased 94-95 High Street Crediton (formally Mitchell's Bakery) in September 2000 for conversion to new offices and full facilities to serve the profession.
We are a family business with dedicated staff, our approach is friendly, courteous and professional, with the aim of providing an efficient caring service.
